Following extensive testing and refinement of numerous hull concepts, Darren Abdilla of Malta set out to develop an International One Metre (IOM) yacht capable of winning at club level and beyond. Drawing on years of competitive sailing experience, technical research, and practical development, his goal was to create a high-performance yacht that combined speed, reliability, and exceptional value.

The IOM Malteser project was founded in Malta under the leadership of Darren Abdilla (MLT 25). The original Malteser was designed by renowned British yacht designer Mark Dicks and precision-manufactured by MX Components in Thailand, bringing together world-class design expertise with outstanding craftsmanship.

Building on the success of the original Malteser, the Malteser 2 and later the Malteser 2X were developed to meet the evolving demands of modern IOM racing. Each generation introduced further refinements in performance, handling, and overall competitiveness.

Today, our flagship design, the Orca, represents the culmination of years of continuous development. Designed to compete at the highest international level, the Orca has earned a reputation for outstanding performance while remaining one of the most competitively priced premium epoxy IOM yachts available. It continues to demonstrate its capabilities against many of the world's leading high-end IOM designs.
